We welcomed the gym when it opened but many of the users are proving very anti-social. As well as the endemic litter, many users like to have a mid break cigarette which they put out. They're also attaching bikes to hand railings despite extra spaces being built for them. We know two people have been physically threatened by users refusing to let up the stairs/ through out front door. This is all in addition to all the problems of having a very high footfall right next to our front door.
Security: Brixton Prison promotes the gym to people being released as something to help them keep on the straight and narrow. Shame to be a NIMBY so just don't put temptation in folks way/ be careful about tailgating.
What to do next? Gavin has emailed the gym asking them to think about solutions to the litter and other anti-social behaviour. Extra bins might appear once the upgrade works have been done - tho they might encourage more to hang out there littering. Assuming that fails we can review matters with legal guidance from the main resident's association once they've successfully exectued the LVT - looks like we've won with a settlement of over £1m feasible. Early ideas from residents include having the bars and gym pay for security. Canvassing pricier gyms to come now they've established unprecedented interest might also be an idea
Agree with the other posts here, the litter created by all the gym users is beyond a joke...
