We're used to punters setting out their stalls at the RVT via the medium of dance but last Saturday we swung by and found something rather different - Bar Wotever's Xmas Fayre. We found folks selling a whole manner of stuff from crockery to fetish crotchwear.
Filka (pictured with her latest ad to tempt folks in) is the force behind Wotever (Tuesday's their regular night at the RVT) and was a welcome host to a great idea on what's normally one of the busiest shopping days of the year - tho the weather and transport meltdown made for a quieter affair with mince pies providing welcome sustenance.
Meanwhile, just around the corner the guys in the bike shop were also having a quiet day. They produced the snowman (right) - a mighty erection that we reckon should be cast in brass and made the central fountain in the new Vauxhall Pleasure Gardens. Petition and contributions to Lambeth Council coming soon.
Your calendar is pretty up-to-date barring glaring omissions and us being bad at poofing. We've paid attention to Chrimbo eve, day and Boxing Day as we know some folks are homo alone and others need a rescue plan.
The Pink Paper reports that "A 20-year-old man and an 18-year-old woman were convicted today of the manslaughter of gay man Ian Baynham. Ruby Thomas and Joel Alexander, both of south-east London, are facing jail. Mr Baynham, 62, died 18 days after he was attacked in Trafalgar Square in September 2009.
Sadly ,the paper confirms that "the Old Bailey heard this month that he had suffered homophobic abuse before being knocked to the ground and then kicked and stamped on."
The casual homophobia and violence is pathetic but the Met really made an effort on this one and got the scum convicted.
Two years ago we reported that an American living in Berlin had apparently been cured of HIV after undergoing stem cell therapy to treat leukaemia. Now his doctors have published a report that he still shows no sign of HIV infection, even though he has had no HIV therapy since then. Read more on the Huffington post.

VivaVauxhall, a local Vauxhall blog, is reporting that Fire is to appeal a planning application that was refused. The application seems to have been to use two more arches and create a link between them.
Local residents, mainly from Bonnington Square, have long complained about the comings and goings to and from the club. We thought an internal link would have helped and been welcome but it seems increased capacity is their fear. Having unemployed friends we'd have hoped they'd think about the extra local jobs and creative licensing solutions.
NOTE: We can't be arsed nor do we have time to manage the all too often personally abusive bile we get from a few but very persistent people about Fire so haven't opened comments on this one. Please don't comment elsewhere either as we're busy boys trying to get your listings done!
Cheryl from New York "the dance party that will ruin your life" will be at The Star of Bethnal Green Saturday January 22 with DJs Nick, The Duchess Of Pork, Princess Michael of Cunt, and Gibson. "It’s a very mixed gay/straight crowd. Everyone is invited".
Hot news from The Guardian. "What do Ava Gardner, Frida Kahlo, Jodie Foster, Keira Knightley and Brooke Shields have in common? You've got it – beautiful bushy eyebrows. And now you can too. A campaign led by Feministing, an online feminist community, has proposed growing a "unibrow" this month for a charitable cause of your choice.
When first coming to London I got some advice about Italians. "They're all talk talk talk, won't buy you a drink back and they'll even steal your shoes if they could". Not terribly nice or true. Sadly, for at least 50 tourists in Rome they did get relieved of everything and a few, even of their shoes.
