Damaged was the first site to speak out about the G deaths wreaking havoc across the scene. The gay press was pretty silent given who their pay masters are. We were set upon by club promoters for even mentioning it for fear of getting attention from the police. Things have come along way with medics in venues dealing with people who have overdosed as opposed to them dumping people in nearby streets.
Anyways, it's still around and nobody's talking about it again. To that end, we want your stories. If you take G, did take it but have given up, counsel people about it, have seen friends die from it or just have a view on it, we want to to hear from you. Please email us if you'd like to contribute your perspective. We hope to have something together by the end of October. Anonymity assured.
You might recall the horrendous murder of Jody Dobrowski we reported on seven years ago. He was beaten so bad his mother couldn't recognise him when she had to identify the body. A memorial garden was created in his memory but it needs some maintenance and there are plans for a new bench. It all costs money so the Two Brewers are hosting an event with No to Hate Crime on 7 October. Please support it if you can.
Jody was just one of many victims that back then during a huge spate of homophobic attacks. We worked over time trying to keep up and it was a very dark time.
A fundraising event will be held on 7 October at the Two Brewers pub on Clapham High Street to pay for the bench, with all additional funds going to the 17-24-30 No to Hate Crime Campaign

Who'd have thought. According to a site called Radar when Paris Hilton got in a cab the driver recorded the conversation to prove she's been in his cab. However, Hilton then then came out with an anti-gay tirade when Grindr is mentioned - starts well but then degenerates like us apparently!
On hearing what Grindr's for she says “Eww. Eww! Gay guys are the horniest people in the world. They’re disgusting. Dude, most of them probably have AIDS ... I would be so scared if I was a gay guy. You’ll like, die of AIDS.”
Her PR says this was taken out of context and was actually a safer sex message she's like totally always trying to get out there. She like totally loves The Gays as they're like her biggest fans.
The Pink Paper is no more. They are "suspending" updating their website. Apparently they were making less and less through advertising and in particular the jobs pages.
Here's how they broke the news: "After 25 years of bringing news to the UK LGBT community, it is with sadness we announce today that it is no longer practical to continue to update Pink Paper’s daily website. Media director Kim Watson of Pink Paper publishers MPL commented: “With a hardening economy, diminished job advertising and increasing global online news services covering similar stories, it has become harder to justify continuance of this award-winning website as part of our publishing portfolio."
They'll continue to publish Diva and Gay Times. Damaged will now look to increase our general gay news output.
We're frisky with the news that our favourite Vauxhall cruise bar is returning to form! Yip, The Eagle on Vauxhall's Kennington Lane will once more be a naughty cruise bar from Monday 17 September. There's a great new line-up and Saturday's have a great XXX new night programmed with all sorts of mischief. So, in summary the popular Tonker, Horse Meat and cinema screenings continue apace and we get our fun bar back on the other nights. Sexy Simon's Carpet Burn will be back for New Year.
Seriously, we've missed our friendly well run local where you can go for a drink and cruise without having to dress up like the Village People. Oh and the boys are replacing old valid memberships for new ones "with benefits".

Everything Everywhere which owns Orange and T-Mobile is launching the above brand as a new 4G phone company. Given the horrendous customer service we've experienced with them we imagine giving us ecstasy is the only way to get forgiveness/ buy-in.
Remember Samsung allegedly trying to force people to write and say nice thing about them? Well, Apple has gone a quantum leap forward in bad behaviour according to the Shanghai Daily.
The Chinese newspaper claims that when Foxconn got the Go! Go! Go! to begin production of the iPhone 5 they didn't have enough workers. Solution - have the local students rounded up mid-term and force them to work 12 hour days under the guise of "internships". You couldn't make it up. Apparently Foxconn will give them a few hundred dollars for their month of slave labour. Think Disgusting.
Will you still buy it? Shocking allegations aside, we're rather bored by the iPhone now - especially as it'll still have the same out dated user interface?! Seriously, the UI it hasn't changed significantly in FIVE YEARS whilst Android's dashed ahead with some great innovations.

Samsung, the company in trouble for allegedly copying the iPhone when it came out, is in even more trouble today. Seems the South Koreans have come out in a rash after various tech bloggers accused the company of conning them into being tradeshow reps for them - and if they didn't do it, they couldn't get home.
